Gravel Commits

St. Cloud State got a verbal commitment from Kevin Gravel of the Marquette Rangers of the North American Hockey League. The 16-year-old has two assists in 16 games. Expect him him to play in the USHL next season with the Sioux City Musketeers as he was taken in the Future's Draft last month.

This is the Huskies first recruit for the 2010 season. They have six players coming in next season. The most notable is goaltender Mike Lee who's backstopping Team USA at the World Junior A Challenge. He was profiled recently on Illegal Curve. Last night he made 21 saves on 24 shots in the 5-3 victory over Canada East. Nick Olivier, Lee's teammate with the Fargo Force and last year with Roseau Rams. With the Force, he has a goal and an assist in ten games. It's expected that he will rejoin the Roseau Rams for his Senior year. David Eddy has two goals and six assists for the Sioux Falls Stampede. Taylor Johnson a defenseman of the Green Bay Gamblers has two goals and two helpers.

Bryce Ravndalen is another player from the NAHL will be joining the Huskies in 2009. The forward has two goals and an assist in five contests. He also played with the Force this year but was released. The sixth recruit, Ben Hanowski is from Little Falls, Minnesota.

That's My Take

Don't expect Lee to come in unless Weslosky leaves and most Husky fans do not expect Ravndalen or Hanowski next year either.
