Hunters scouting another USHL Defenseman?

At the 2008 OHL draft the Hunters took a chance on a 17-year-old John Carlson, hoping the future NHL 1st round pick would join the London Knights. What a decision as Carlson is one of the best defenseman in the Ontario Hockey League and could be a NHL next season, at least an AHLer.

If it works once why not try it again. Rumors on the Noof the Hunters have made scouting trips to see Chicago Steel's John Moore who's committed to Colorado College.

Apparently theres a very good chance John Moore from Chicago USHL will end up in London next season. Regarded as a 1st round NHL pick this coming June. Would really help the London defense.

The next post.

Have been wondering what the scouting trips to Chicago was for. When Mark headed over there twice neither the U-17's were in the area or another draft pick Gunn. If they land this kid that would be a major coup he is the real deal.

If this is true what round does the Knights take Moore? I don't think they use a first round pick on a guy that isn't a shoe in to join the team. On the hand, London wouldn't use a high draft pick unless they had a deal in place before hand.

The Knights don't have a second round pick. I am unsure about their third round pick this season if they traded it or not. Either way, they find a way to make a mid round selection into a first round selection. It's like turning water into wine.

Imagine this defensive core next season for the Knights if everyone comes back and/or commits.

John Carlson, Michael Del Zotto, John Moore (potential draft pick), Adam Clendening (draft pick), Jared Tinordi (draft pick), Vladimir Roth, Steven Tarasuk, and Michael Gunn (draft pick)

Does another high profile team grab Moore to block the Knights from grabbing him?

That's My Take

John Moore is a very legit prospect. I think the only difference between him and Carlson is Moore is committed to a better school. I hope Moore stays on the school route, but I won't put anything past London anymore.

Any idea of what the chances may be that Gunn ends up in London? Just curious as he's a Michigan State recruit and on Sioux City's affiliated roster.
