The second pick is signed

Moose Jaw, SK---The Moose Jaw Warriors General Manager announced today at a special press conference held in Moose Jaw, the signing of 2009 Bantam Draft Pick Morgan Rielly. Rielly was selected in the 1st round 2nd overall in the 2009 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft. The 5’11 170lb defensemen of West Vancouver, BC posted impressive numbers last season with the Notre Dame Hounds. In 43 games, Rielly accumulated 41 goals and 43 assists for an impressive 84 points.

“His commitment to our organization is great news,” says General Manager Chad Lang. “Morgan is a very well rounded and complete defenseman that has excellent offensive skills,” said Lang. “Morgan’s character allows him to be a natural leader; he is a student of the game and continues to challenge himself. We’re excited to have him become part of the Warrior family.”

Rielly was asked how he felt when he was first drafted to the tribe, "I was extremely happy at that point because I have the opportunity to play close to school and on a great team with a bright future. There is a great coach there and I was extremely happy that day."

Morgan will hit the ice for the first time at the Moose Jaw Civic Centre on August 20th as Training Camp will run from the 20th to the 23rd in the Friendly City.
