Volts keep rolling

DRUMMONDVILLE, Que. -- Yannick Riendeau scored twice for Drummondville as the Voltigeurs edged the Shawinigan Cataractes 2-1 in Game 1 of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League championship series Friday.

With the win, the Voltigeurs set a new QMJHL record for consecutive wins spanning the end of the regular season and into the playoffs.

Drummondville is unbeaten in their last 13 playoff games and was perfect through the final seven games of the regular season.

After a scoreless first period, Riendeau put Drummondville on the board with a power-play goal at 17:38 in the second.

He made it 2-0 at 11:30 in the third and the Voltigeurs nearly held the shutout until Cataractes defenceman Alex Grant scored at 19:33.

Drummondville goaltender Marco Cousineau made 37 saves for the win, while at the other end Timo Pielmeier stopped 32 shots.
