Following the decision rendered by la Chambre de la jeunesse this morning concerning an incident which occurred last season between two Quebec Major Junior Hockey League players, the Commissioner of the QMJHL, Gilles Courteau, released this official statement.
"The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League acknowledges the decision rendered by the Court and reiterates its commitment to offering its players a safe and secure environment in which to play. The QMJHL possesses a vigilant disciplinary structure which is capable of imposing severe and effective disciplinary sanctions to discourage unacceptable behaviour. The QMJHL finds regrettable that these exceptional incidents be brought before the Courts."
The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League will not issue any additional comments.
