Krushelnyski Commits to Colorado College

The Chicago Steel announced that forward Alex Krushelnyski has committed to Colorado College and will attend the school beginning in the fall of 2010.

The 18-year-old forward has recorded 11 points (4g, 7a) and a plus-seven rating in 10 games for the Steel this season. Krushelnyski began the year registering a point in each of the first seven games. The native of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan is in his second USHL season after posting 18 points (7g, 11a) in 38 games for the Steel in 2008-09.

Krushelnyski's father Mike played 14 seasons in the NHL and won three Stanley Cups with the Edmonton Oilers.

Five other current USHL players are committed to attend Colorado College following their USHL careers; Eamonn McDermott (Fargo Force), Aaron Harstad (Green Bay Gamblers), Dakota Eveland (Omaha Lancers), Jaden Schwartz (Tri-City Storm), and Scott Wamsganz (Waterloo Black Hawks).

Colorado College is a member of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) and currently have 13 former USHL players on the men's hockey team roster; Joe Marciano (Omaha Lancers), Scott Winkler (Cedar Rapids RoughRiders), Doug Leaverton (Cedar Rapids RoughRiders), Gabe Guentzel (Sioux Falls Stampede), Stephen Schultz (Lincoln Stars), Nate Prosser (Sioux Falls Stampede), Matt Overman (Sioux Falls Stampede), Nick Dineen (Sioux Falls Stampede), Tim Hall (Ohio Jr. Blue Jackets), Ryan Lowery (Lincoln Stars), Mike Testwuide (Waterloo Black Hawks), William Rapuzzi (Green Bay Gamblers), and Joe Howe (Waterloo Black Hawks).

Colorado College is coached by Scott Owens who spent eight seasons as a head coach in the USHL. He led the Des Moines Buccaneers to the Clark Cup following the 1998-99 season. Owens also coached the Madison Capitols for four seasons (1986-90) earning USHL Coach of the Year honors during the 1987-88 campaign. He compiled a 261-129-10 record in his eight seasons behind the bench in the USHL.
