ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Goaltender Matt Mahalak (Monroe, Mich.) and forwards Seth Ambroz (New Prague, Minn.) and Austin Wuthrich (Anchorage, Alaska) have been added the U.S. National Under-17 Team’s roster for the 2009 Under-17 Four Nations Cup in Trnava, Slovakia, Nov. 5-7.
Mahalak is currently in his rookie season with the United States Hockey League’s Youngstown Phantoms. Mahalak has appeared four contests, posting two wins and a 3.97 goals-against average.
Ambroz is in his second season with the USHL’s Omaha Lancers. He currently stands second on the team with nine points (5-4) in nine games this season. In his rookie campaign, Ambroz recorded 14 goals and 17 assists, which included six power-play tallies and three shorthanded markers.
Wuthrich, a member of Team Illinois Midget Major, has posted nine points (4-5) in 16 games in the Midwest Elite Hockey League. Wuthrich was also a member of the U.S. Under-17 Select Team that competed at the 2009 Under-17 Five Nations Tournament in Fussen, Germany, in August.
The U.S. National Under-17 Team will take on teams from Russia, Slovakia and Switzerland during the round-robin tournament.
