Pinkston Commits to Dartmouth College

Tri-City Storm defenseman Rick Pinkston has committed to play hockey for Dartmouth College beginning in the fall of 2011.

The 6-foot-1, 198-pound defenseman is in his second season with the Storm and has two points (1g, 1a) in 19 games while leading the team with 61 penalty minutes. The native of Trenton, Michigan played 37 games for the Storm during the 2008-09 season recording five points (2g, 3a)

"I felt it was the best decision for me, not only for the next four to five years, but the next 40 as well," said Pinkston. "It's a supreme education and with an excellent hockey program that has a rich tradition. It has always been a dream of mine to play for an Ivy League school."

Four other current USHL players are committed to Dartmouth College; Taylor Boldt (Indiana Ice) Billy Fitzgerald (Indiana Ice), Cab Morris (Indiana Ice), and Matt Lindblad (Sioux Falls Stampede).

"We are excited and proud of Rick and his decision to commit to Dartmouth," Head Coach/General Manager Drew Schoneck said. "He has made great strides this season as a player, and we look forward to his continued development."

Located in Hanover, New Hampshire, Dartmouth College is a member of the East Coast Athletic Conference (ECAC) and seven former USHL players are currently on the roster for the "Big Green" men's hockey team; Seven USHL alumni are currently on the roster for the Ivy League's Dartmouth Big Green; Jason Bourgea (Indiana Ice), Troy Mattila (Tri-City Storm), Kyle Reeds (Waterloo Black Hawks), Doug Jones (Cedar Rapids RoughRiders), Evan Stephens (Cedar Rapids RoughRiders), Mike Keenan (Sioux City Musketeers), and Danny Markowitz (Tri-City Storm/Ohio Jr. Blue Jackets). Former Tri-City Storm assistant coach John Rose is on the coaching staff at Dartmouth College.
