Barrie Colts Capture Hamilton Spectator Trophy

The Barrie Colts have officially captured the Hamilton Spectator Trophy awarded to the team finishing first overall in the OHL's regular season.

The Colts secured themselves as the number one team with a 4-2 win over the Belleville Bulls on Sunday afternoon. This marks the first time in the club's 15-year history where they have won this award. They currently carry a record of 54-9-0-2 for 110 points through 65 games which is also a new franchise best record.

Last season the Windsor Spitfires won this award with a record of 57-10-0-1 and 115 points.

The trophy was first presented to the St. Catharines Tee Pees in the 1957-58 season by the Hamilton Spectator.

The winner of this award has gone on to win the OHL Championship 15 times and the Memorial Cup seven times.
