GATINEAU, Monday, March 1, 2010 – The Gatineau Olympiques today announced the hiring of John Chabot as their new head coach. Chabot takes over the coaching duties from Jérôme Dupont who resigned on Saturday.
The Summerside native will begin his second stint as head coach of a Quebec Major Junior Hockey League franchise. He led the Acadie-Bathurst Titan to 43 wins in 81 games over two seasons (2005-06 & 2006-07) before accepting an assistant coaching position with the New York Islanders.
The former Hull Olympiques forward enjoyed a very successful three-year major junior career, recording 315 points in 200 games with two franchises (Hull & Sherbrooke).
