USHL Honors - Week 23

The United States Hockey League today announced the weekly award winners for the 23rd week of the 2009-10 USHL regular season.

Congratulations to forward Derek Arnold of the Waterloo Black Hawks, named Reebok Offensive Player of the Week; defenseman Conor Allen of the Sioux Falls Stampede, selected as CCM Defensive Player of the Week; and Connor Wilson of the Chicago Steel who earned honors as the USHL Goaltender of the Week.

Arnold scored six points (2g, 4a) and registered a plus-two rating while extending his point streak to 14 games, which is the second longest streak in the USHL this season. The 20-year-old netted two goals, including the game-winner, in the 3-2 win over Sioux City on Wednesday. He then assisted on both goals in the 4-2 loss to Fargo on Friday and added two more assists in the 6-3 loss to Fargo on Saturday. The second-year USHL forward from Foxboro, Massachusetts has multiple points in each of his last five games and ranks fourth on the Black Hawks with 51 points (19g, 32a) through 50 games.

Allen registered two points (1g, 1a) and a plus-four rating as the Stampede earned five of a possible six points in the standings during the week. The native of Chicago, Illinois scored the game-winning goal and dished out an assist in the 7-2 victory over Team USA on Saturday. Playing in his first USHL season, the 20-year-old has tallied 14 points (6g, 8a) and a plus-10 rating in 45 games for the Stampede. It is the second weekly defensive honor for Allen who has an even-or-better plus/minus rating in each of his last six games.

Wilson posted a 1.01 goals-against-average and a .964 save percentage in two appearances for the Steel. He made 26 saves in the 2-0 loss to Sioux Falls on Thursday and then turned away all 28 shots he faced in the 3-0 win over Lincoln on Friday. It was the second shutout of the season for the 18-year-old native of Cary, North Carolina. Over his last seven starts, the first-year USHL goaltender has posted a 5-2-0 record with a 1.43 GAA, a .953 SV%, and two shutouts. Wilson has compiled an 11-6-4 record in 21 appearances for the Steel.
