Power Commits to UMass

Omaha Lancers forward Troy Power has committed to the University of Massachusetts and will attend the school beginning in the fall of 2010.

The third-year USHL forward was named team captain of the Lancers for the 2009-10 season and ranks tied for second on the squad with 26 goals and four game-winners. He is sixth on the team with 41 points (26g, 15a) through 55 games while also posting a plus-19 rating. Power is in his second season with the Lancers after spending his rookie season (2007-08) in the USHL with the Tri-City Storm. The native of Camarillo, California, who turned 20 earlier this week, has tallied 69 points (35g, 33a) in 159 career games in the League.

Power joins current Lancers teammate Jeff Teglia who committed to UMass last week. Indiana Ice forward John Parker, Sioux Falls Stampede defenseman Conor Allen, and Lincoln Stars forward Chris DelMauro are also committed to attend the school. The UMass Minutemen are members of Hockey East and had 11 former USHL players on the roster this season; Justin Braun (Green Bay Gamblers), Rocco Carzo (Des Moines Buccaneers), Danny Hobbs (Ohio Jr. Blue Jackets), Brian Keane (Chicago Steel), James Marcou (Waterloo Black Hawks), Michael Marcou (Waterloo Black Hawks), Eddie Olczyk (Waterloo Black Hawks), Darren Rowe (Cedar Rapids RoughRiders), T.J. Snyder (Indiana Ice), Brett Watson (Tri-City Storm), and Casey Wellman (Cedar Rapids RoughRiders).
