Skinner Named Boston Pizza OHL Player of the Week

Toronto, ON – The Ontario Hockey League today announced that forward Jeff Skinner of the Kitchener Rangers is the Boston Pizza OHL Player of the Week for the week ending April 11. Skinner scored six goals and two assists for eight points in four playoff games against the London Knights with a plus-minus rating of plus-4.

Skinner has recorded a point for the Rangers in each of the first six games of the Western Conference Semi-Finals and was named first star of the game twice last week with two three-point games. He scored a hat-trick in Game 4 to lead the Rangers to an 8-7 overtime win over the Knights, and scored two goals and an assist Saturday despite the 5-3 loss in Game 6. He also scored a goal in the 6-3 loss in Game 3 on Monday, and contributed an assist on Thursday in an 8-4 win in Game 5. Heading into the Game 7 contest against the Knights on Monday night, Skinner sits third in playoff scoring with 12 goals and five assists for 17 points in 12 games.

Skinner, a 17-year-old from Markham, ON, is playing in his second OHL season with the Rangers and scored 50 goals and 40 assists for 90 points in 64 games this season. Eligible for the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, Skinner is ranked 34th among North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting.

Also considered for the award this week was Rangers’ defenceman John Moore who collected 10 points in four games scoring three goals and adding seven assists. Nazem Kadri also continued his strong offensive play for the London Knights with three goals and five assists for eight points in four games. In goal, Mavric Parks of the Barrie Colts won two games with a goals-against-average of 1.50 and a save percentage of .958.
