Bandits, Ice Dogs victorious on Day 2 of Robertson Cup

Press Release

WENATCHEE, WASH. – The St. Louis Bandits (1-1) and Fairbanks Ice Dogs (1-0) picked up victories on the second day of five-day, four-game round-robin portion of the North American Hockey League’s (NAHL) Robertson Cup Championship Tournament at the Town Toyota Center in Wenatchee, Wash.

In the early game, St. Louis bested the Traverse City North Stars (1-1), 4-1.

Forwards Brooks Bertsch (game-winner), Ryan Stouffer and Dan Olszewski and defenseman Patrick Raley recorded the Bandits’ goals, and netminder Tyler Bruggeman turned aside 20 shots.

"The boys executed our game plan very well today," said Bandits assistant coach Rocky Russo. "We did the little things that are necessary to succeed. We'll enjoy this victory for a short time and then start to prepare for Fairbanks (Ice Dogs on Thursday)."

“I think you can say our backs are against the wall at this point,” North Stars head coach Anthony Palumbo said. “You probably have to have wins in three of the four round-robin games to get to (the championship game) Sunday.”
