City of Victoriaville grants $1.5 million to Tigres

Press Release

BOUCHERVILLE, Friday, April 30, 2010 – The City of Victoriaville today announced that it is going forward with plans to renovate the Gilbert-Perreault Arena, the home of the Tigres. The City will invest a total of $1.5 million over five years in the project.

"The announcement could not have come at a better time for our organization and our fans," said Yves Bonneau, the Tigres’ Director of Marketing. "We plan on using these dollars to add some 500 new seats and corporate suites, replace the sound and lighting systems and buy new rink boards. The project will enable us to modernize the arena to meet the League’s standards."

Renovations will begin shortly and should be completed in time for the 2011 QMJHL Entry Draft. Victoriaville is set to host next year’s prestigious event.

"The announcement which was made earlier this month by the League regarding the 2011 Entry Draft certainly played a key role. We expect the renovations to be completed in time for the beginning of the City’s 150th anniversary which coincides with the Tigres’ 25th anniversary in Victoriaville," concluded Bonneau.
