MTS named Communications Solutions Provider of the 2010 MasterCard Memorial Cup

WINNIPEG, MB – MTS is proud to announce its role as the Official Communications Solutions Provider of the 2010 MasterCard Memorial Cup, the national championship of the Canadian Hockey League and showcase of the country’s champion top-level junior hockey teams. The tournament will feature the champions from the Western Hockey League, the Ontario Hockey League, and the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, as well as this year’s host team, the Brandon Wheat Kings. For the first time in its history, the tournament will be held in Manitoba, and MTS is proud to help Western Manitoba put on a sporting event of this scale by providing all telecommunications services for the 2010 MasterCard Memorial Cup.

“MTS is honoured to participate in this historic event as the Official Communications Solutions Provider of the 2010 MasterCard Memorial Cup by providing leading edge communications technology to this premiere hockey tournament,” said Kelvin Shepherd, President, MTS. “We’re very excited to be able to support another national calibre event in Western Manitoba, and I know the volunteers and organizers in the City of Brandon will raise the bar as they always do.”

The 2010 MasterCard Memorial Cup will take place between Friday, May 14 and Sunday, May 23 at Brandon’s Keystone Centre, and will mark the 92nd edition of the
Canadian Hockey League national championship. MTS has already begun outfitting the Keystone Centre with a wi-fi network that will support the tournament operations. Organizers will also be provided with a variety of MTS services to help the event succeed. Hundreds of 2010 MasterCard Memorial Cup staff and volunteers will be equipped with MTS wireless devices. In addition, 27 dedicated lines will be installed in the Keystone Centre. MTS will equip, install and maintain these services for the duration of the tournament.
