Saginaw Spirit Sign Top Prospect Brandon Saad

(Saginaw, MI) The Saginaw Spirit are pleased to announce the signing of top NHL prospect Brandon Saad. Saad, a forward who was selected tenth overall in the 2008 OHL Priority Selection, is tabbed as a top five pick for the 2011 NHL Entry Draft by two independent hockey scouting services in their preliminary rankings.

"He's an all around player, he brings a lot to the table," Spirit General Manager and Head Coach Todd Watson said. "He can play in all situations. He can score, he’s a power forward. He has good hands, he can play physical, and will be a great asset to our program."

The Gibsonia, Pennsylvania native played with the US Under-18 team last season, posting 29 goals and 29 assists for 58 points. Prior to playing in the US develop program Saad played with the Mahoning Valley Phantoms of the NAHL, earning the league’s rookie of the year honors with 47 points in 47 games.
