Two New Additions to AJHL Junior Team

Saco, ME- The Junior Pirates would like to announce the signing of two new players for the AJHL team. Josef Danilchuk, a 91’ defenseman from Medford Massachusetts and Thomas Castle, a 90’ forward from Milton Keynes England.

Joesef Danilchuk played four years at Medfford High where he was also an assistant captain his senior season. Danilchuk was also named as a GBL All-Star, All Scholastic Team, All Conference Team and Medford’s top defensive player award. Danilchuk’s success at the high school level led him to take on a post graduate year at Kent’s Hill Prep, where he was also named an assistant captain.

Measuring in at 6’2 220Lbs, Danilchuck will certainly be a tough defensemen for opposing forwards to compete against. “Joesef is a big strong defenseman with good mobility.” Said Head Coach Brad Church, “He competes extremely hard and is another key asset to our backend.”

Thomas Castle played last season for Stanstead College Prep, in Stanstead Quebec. Playing with Standstead, Castle was a strong offensive threat, scoring 13 goals and 21 assists. Thomas spent the 08-09 season with the Stanstead Spartans and the previous two seasons with the highly recognized Notre Dame Hounds.

In addition to the high level competition Castle has been part of, he has spent a great amount of time in some of the top hockey camps across the world. Castle’s strong work ethic will be a huge addition on and off the ice for the Junior Pirates.

Head Coach Brad Church looks forward to having Castle on the ice, “Thomas is a speedy winger that plays with a ton of energy and creativity. He will be looked upon to contribute offensively and be a factor on special teams.”
