ANN ARBOR , Mich. – USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program today announced the roster and schedule for its 2010-11 U.S. National Under-17 Team. The squad, comprised of some of the top American-born players in the 1994 birth-year, will compete against teams from the United States Hockey League and North American Hockey League, in addition to taking part in three international competitions during the course of the season.
The 23-player roster features eight defensemen, including Connor Carrick (Orland Park, Ill.), Matt Grzelcyk (Charlestown, Mass.), Seth Jones (Plano, Texas), Dakota Mermis (Alton, Ill.), Patrick Sieloff (Ann Arbor, Mich.), Brady Skjei (Lakeville, Minn.), Gavin Stoick (Portland, Ore.) and Jacob Trouba (Rochester, Mich.).
The U.S. will carry 13 forwards, including Cameron Darcy (South Boston, Mass.), Thomas Di Pauli (Woodridge, Ill.), Ryan Hartman (West Dundee, Ill.), Nicolas Kerdiles (Irvine, Calif.), Miles Koules (Los Angeles, Calif.), Matthew Lane (Rochester, N.Y.), Stefan Matteau (Chicago, Ill.), Nikolas Olsson (Escondido, Calif.), Kyle Osterberg (Lakeville, Minn.), Henrik Samuelsson (Scottsdale, Ariz.), Quentin Shore (Denver, Colo.), Brendan Silk (Wakefield, Mass.) and Frankie Vatrano (East Longmeadow, Mass.).
Backstopping Team USA will be goaltenders Collin Olson (Apple Valley, Minn.) and Jared Rutledge (Skokie, Ill.).
Danton Cole, entering his first season with the NTDP, will serve as head coach for the U.S. National Under-17 Team. Matt Greason, who spent time as intern coach of the U.S. National Under-18 Team last season, will begin his first season as assistant coach, while Tyler Eaves will serve as intern coach.

The U.S. National Under-17 Team kicks off the 2010-11 campaign at home with a USHL pre-season contest against the Youngstown Phantoms on Sept. 18. The U.S. will then open its 36-game USHL regular-season schedule against the Dubuque Fighting Saints on Oct. 9 at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube.
In international competition, Team USA will look to defend its titles at both the 2010 Under-17 Four Nations Cup, Nov. 7-14, in Woodridge, Ill. and the 2011 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, Dec. 28, 2010-Jan. 5, 2011, in Winnipeg, Man. Additionally, the U.S. will travel to Piestany, Slovakia, Feb. 6-13, for the 2011 Vlad Dzurilla Under-18 Tournament.

NOTES: The 23 players on the U.S. roster represent 10 different states. Illinois leads the way with six natives on the roster, while Massachusetts boasts four and California and Minnesota each boast three … Twelve members of Team USA have verbally committed to NCAA Division I schools … Miles Koules and Kyle Osterberg recently competed on the 2010 U.S. Under-17 Select Team that captured first place at the Under-17 Five Nations Tournament, Aug. 18-22, in Hutwill, Switzerland … A full-time elite development program in Ann Arbor, Mich., USA Hockey's NTDP includes both the U.S. National Under-17 and Under-18 Teams. The teams will count jointly as one team in the USHL standings as a member of the East Division. Should the NTDP qualify, the U.S. National Under-17 Team will compete in the Clark Cup Playoffs … Between the two teams, the Ann Arbor Ice Cube will host 34 games during the 2010-11 season.
