SEA DOGS ACQUIRE McGUIGAN, RECALL OLIVER-DARES & MORRISON

Press Release

Saint John Sea Dogs Director of Hockey Operations Mike Kelly announced on Thursday that the club has claimed forward Dylan McGuigan off of waivers from the Halifax Mooseheads. McGuigan, 18, will join the team immediately and is expected to be in Saint John’s lineup this weekend.

A native of Montague, PEI, McGuigan split the 2009-10 season between Halifax (QMJHL) and Truro (MJAHL). The 5’10”, 191 lb. winger appeared in exactly a dozen games with the Mooseheads (0G-0A-0P-11PIM) as well as the Bearcats (0G-1A-1P-9PIM) last year.

The Sea Dogs have also announced that affiliate players Devon Oliver-Dares, 16, and Brock Morrison, 17, have been called up to the QMJHL. Both forwards appeared in multiple pre-season games for the Port City’s major junior squad. Oliver-Dares was selected by Saint John in the third round (54th overall) of the 2010 QMJHL Entry Draft, while Morrison was chosen 128th overall (Round Eight).
