Spitfires Sign Eric Locke to an OHL Contract

Press Release

(Windsor) Windsor Spitfires Vice-President and General Manager Warren Rychel today announced the signing of Eric Locke, Windsor’s 13th round pick in the 2009 OHL Priority Selection to an OHL contract and education package.

Locke, a 16 year-old forward and native of Toronto, Ont., is listed at 5’9” and 171 pounds. Locke was one of the most productive players at the recent Windsor Spitfires Training Camp as he finished fourth in camp scoring with four goals and six points in three games played. Last season, Locke helped lead the Mississauga Reps Major Midget AAA squad to the Telus Cup championship and was named the tournament’s most valuable player, registering eight points in seven games.

“Eric was one of the best players in our training camp and also enjoyed a productive development camp with us earlier this summer. He earned his spot on the team and has been impressive in every game that we’ve seen him play. Eric has excellent hands and is a pure goal scorer who will be a great addition to our lineup for the upcoming season. In addition to his success on the ice, he is an excellent student and carried a 90% average in high school. We look forward to having him suit up in a Spitfire uniform,” said Warren Rychel.

Locke will continue his studies at St. Anne’s High School in Lakeshore, ON.
