Kamloops, BC – The Kamloops Blazers will have Matthew Needham, their 2010 1st round WHL Bantam pick, in the line-up tomorrow night as the Blazers host the Spokane Chiefs.
The 5’10” 180lb center was drafted by the Blazers with the 8th overall pick in April 2010 and is currently playing with Okanagan Hockey Academy where he has recorded 4 goals in 7 games this season.
With Needham’s debut, this will be the first time in Blazer history that a father and son have both suited up for a regular season game with the organization. Matthew’s father Mike played with the Blazers from 1986-90 collecting 243 points in 176 games.
Needham will make his debut because of injuries and suspensions that were handed out this morning. Forwards Chase Souto (concussion) and Jordan DePape (shoulder) will miss tomorrow’s game with injuries.
Defenseman Brandon Underwood has been suspended for one game for a game misconduct he received versus Chilliwack on Saturday, October 2nd. Linden Saip, who sat out Saturday’s game due to suspension, will sit out one more game due to supplemental discipline from a game versus the Everett Silvertips on October 1st.
