67’s’ Tyler Toffoli Named OHL Player of the Week

Toronto, ON – The Ontario Hockey League today announced that forward Tyler Toffoli of the Ottawa 67’s is the OHL Player of the Week for the week ending November 14. Toffoli led the OHL with nine points in three games scoring six goals and three assists with a plus-minus rating of plus-7.

After contributing an assist for Team OHL in the 4-0 win over Team Russia in the 2010 SUBWAY® Super Series game in London on Thursday, Toffoli returned to the 67’s and recorded his first hat-trick of the season on Friday night as first star of a 3-2 win over the Sarnia Sting. He followed that up by notching the game-winning goal plus an assist on Saturday in a 6-2 win over the Peterborough Petes. He finished the week on Sunday with another first star performance scoring twice and adding two assists in a 7-3 win over the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.

Toffoli, an 18-year-old from Scarborough, ON, is playing in his third OHL season with the 67’s. Selected in the second round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, 47th overall by the Los Angeles Kings, Toffoli is fourth in league scoring with 34 points in 22 games including 18 goals and 16 assists.

Shane Prince of the 67’s and Windsor Spitfires’ forward Tom Kuhnhackl were also considered for the award. Prince produced eight points in three games including one goal and seven assists, while Kuhnhackl had five goals and one assist for six points in three games. In goal, Mark Visentin of the Niagara IceDogs won two games including a shutout victory posting a goals-against-average of 2.00 and save percentage of .933.
