All the excitement of junior hockey at your fingertips, thanks to TELUS

MONTREAL, Thursday, November 4th, 2010 – The action and excitement of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) is now available to TELUS wireless subscribers for free and right at their fingertips thanks to the QMJHL Network available on TELUS Mobile TV. Fans of junior hockey can now watch over a dozen regular-season and playoff games from any location, on their Android, BlackBerry, and other smartphones.

“At TELUS, we wanted to heighten the intensity of junior hockey with our breakthrough technology and through the power of our wide range of high-performance smartphones. In doing so, we are reaching not just our young hockey players but also all Quebec hockey fans, who are amongst the most passionate in the world,” noted Patrick Corneau, Vice-President, Marketing Communications at TELUS. Today, we offer a new way for our Quebec community, friends and family to follow the development of young hockey players anywhere they are.”

To download the TELUS Mobile TV application, TELUS subscribers simply have to text the word “QMJHL” to 4004. Android, BlackBerry and smartphones owners will be able to cheer on their favourite team right from their smartphones beginning November 12 at 7:30 p.m. when the Chicoutimi Saguenéens take on the Rimouski Océanic. The schedule for the QMJHL games available on both TELUS Mobile TV and TELUS TV is updated regularly at telusquebec.com/tv.

During the last ten years, TELUS has supported the QMJHL with nearly $7 million in funding. This financial support demonstrates TELUS’ commitment to supporting amateur sports in the province.

In addition to the new mobile application, TELUS TV will carry select Océanic, Drakkar and Remparts hockey games. All 612 regular-season games, as well as playoff matches will be available on Webcast. Fans can also download a wide range of ringtones, images, videos and other content from the QMJHL, including team theme songs, photos and player interviews. The QMJHL games are available for free on TELUS Mobile TV. Entertainment enthusiasts can subscribe to 20 additional channels for $15 a month.
