GIANTS ACQUIRE ROWINSKI FROM MOOSE

Press Release

Vancouver, B.C. - The Vancouver Giants acquired centre Brendan Rowinski from the Moose Jaw Warriors in exchange for a 3rd round pick in the 2012 WHL bantam draft and a 6th round pick in the 2013 WHL bantam draft.

A native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Rowinski is in his 5th year in the Western Hockey League. He has played just 2 games this year after recovering from off season knee surgery, but has 2 goals and 4 points in those 2 games. The 20 year old spent the last year and a half with the Warriors after being dealt from Calgary during the 2008-09 season. He was originally a first round WHL bantam pick of the Hitmen back in 2005.

"We are very excited to add a player of Brendan's caliber to our team," said Vancouver Giants Executive Vice-President and General Manager Scott Bonner. "Having scored 30 goals last season, he brings an immense amount of offensive talent to our team which should help boltster a line up that already boasts the top 2 scorers in the league."

Rowinski will arrive in Vancouver Friday morning and is expected to be in the line up Saturday night when the Giants host the Prince George Cougars.
