Press Release

The British Columbia Hockey League's Powell River Kings are pleased to announce that rookie forward Daniel Schuler has committed to attend the Rochester Institute of Technology and suit up for the NCAA Division I Tigers brginning in the 2012/13 season.

A native of Rochester, New York, Schuler will be attending his hometown university. The 18-year old joined the green and gold this past August and immediately impressed the coaches and fans with his speed and incredible shot. Daniel is currently sixth in team points with five goals and seven assists in 17 games.

Schuler’s hard work ethic and positive attitude contributes to his ability to consistently elevate his game.

"We’re excited to see Daniel commit to his hometown’s NCAA program," says Kings head coach Kent Lewis. "He is an exceptional individual who continues to develop more and more each game. RIT will have a well-rounded player when Daniel starts with the Tigers’ program in 2012.”

Schuler chose RIT for its acclaimed pre-med program and for the NCAA school’s established hockey program. Daniel looks forward to developing his hockey skills while pursuing his goal of becoming a doctor. He will be joining fellow teammate Matt Garbowsky and former King Josh Watson at RIT.
