Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Evan Mosher of the PEI Rocket is the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending October 31. Mosher carried a record of 1-0-0-1 including a shutout victory with a goals-against-average of 0.96 and save percentage of .961.
Mosher began the week by earning his first shutout of the season stopping all 28 shots he faced on Friday night blanking the Halifax Mooseheads 3-0 and earning first star of the game honours. He followed that up with an impressive performance on Sunday on the road against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan. Despite the 3-2 shootout loss, Mosher made 39 saves including 16 in the second period and was named the game’s second star.
Mosher, a 20-year-old from Conception Bay South, Newfoundland, is playing in his fifth QMJHL season with the Rocket. So far this season he holds a record of 8-7-0-1 with a goals-against-average of 2.75 and save percentage of .919 but leads the QMJHL in minutes played with over 916.
Also considered for the award was Nathan Lieuwen of the Kootenay Ice, and Jack Campbell of the Windsor Spitfires. Lieuwen led the Ice to two victories including a 3-0 shutout win with 22 saves as first star over the Calgary Hitmen on Wednesday. Campbell backstopped the Spitfires to three straight victories while posting a goals-against-average of 2.27 and save percentage of .925.
