RANFORD ADDED TO TEAM WHL ROSTER

Calgary, AB -- The Western Hockey League announced today that Brendan Ranford of the Kamloops Blazers will play for Team WHL in the 2010 SUBWAY® Super Series game on Wednesday, November 17th, in Kamloops, BC.

Ranford, an 18 year-old from Edmonton, AB, is in his third season with the Kamloops Blazers. He currently leads the WHL in goals scored with 17 tallies and is ranked 7th among all WHL scorers with 27 points (17 goals, 10 assists) in 19 games played. The Blazers made Ranford their 1st round (15th overall) selection at the 2007 WHL Bantam Draft and the 5’10” left winger was recently selected in the 7th round in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft by the Philadelphia Flyers. He has appeared in 160 career WHL games, collecting 119 points thus far (59 goals, 60 assists).

The 2010 SUBWAY® Super Series is currently underway and marks the eighth straight year that teams of CHL All-Stars have competed against Team Russia in preparation for the World Junior Hockey Championships. The SUBWAY® Super Series is an integral part of the evaluation process prior to Team Canada’s final selection camp in December. This season, Canada will be competing for their 13th straight medal at the 2011 tournament in Buffalo, NY.

Team WHL will face Team Russia in games five and six of the series played Wednesday, November 17 in Kamloops, BC, and on Thursday, November 18 in Prince George, BC. The first two games of the series were hosted by the QMJHL with the OHL hosting games three and four.
