Stamps' Gray named Player of the Week

Swan Valley Stampeders’ forward Shelby Gray has been named the MJHL’s Player of the Week.

Gray, who hails from Invermay, Sk., was a key contributor to the Stampeders’ offensive attack with four goals and six points in three games. Over that span the Stamps’ recorded two wins and sit atop the Sher-Wood Division with 13 wins and 27 points.

Gray, 20, has enjoyed a strong season for the Stamps and sits in the Top 10 of the MJHL points race with 22 points (15-7).

Runners-up for the Player of the Week honour were a pair of goaltenders - Joey Rewucki (Selkirk Steelers) and Wendall Vye (Neepawa Natives).

Rewucki, 19, posted a perfect 2-0 record for the Addison Division leading Steelers. The East St. Paul product allowed only three goals on 87 shots, in posting a 1.44 GAA and .966 save percentage.

Vye, 20, also went undefeated last week in three starts for the Natives who sit third in the Sher-Wood with 23 points and 11 wins. The talented goaltender, who lists his favourite NHL player as Vancouver Canucks’ Roberto Luongo, gave up five goals on 87 shots, in posting a 1.67 GAA and .943 save percentage.
