Aynsley picks up offensive slack, scores Player of the Week nod

Press Release

Trail Smoke Eaters forward Ryan Aynsley has been named the British Columbia Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending December 12, the league announced Monday.

Aynsley was huge for the Smokies on their recent coastal road trip as he picked up six points in four games in the absence of top scorers Scott Jacklin and Sam Mellor. The Kelowna native got stronger as the trip went on, scoring two points including the game-winner in a 2-1 triumph over Victoria Saturday and two more points with the overtime winner Sunday in Coquitlam in a 3-2 win.

Aynsley helped Trail earn five of a possible eight points on the road trip and is on a personal six-game scoring streak. In just 10 games with the Smoke Eaters so far this season, Aynsley has 17 points.

Honourable mentions this week go to Trail forward Cullen Bradshaw (four games, three goals, four assists), Coquitlam goalie Khaleed Devji (three games, 1-0-0-2 record, one shutout) and Salmon Arm forward Bryce Gervais (two games, four goals, one assist).
