BCHL hires new communications director

Press Release

The British Columbia Hockey League has a new face in the head office as Brent Mutis has assumed duties as director of communications.

Mutis takes over for Jeff Dubois, who was the first person to hold down the role for the League.

As communications director, Mutis is responsible for all day-to-day media requests, managing the League's website content and handling editor responsibilities for Smart Hockey Magazine.

"Were pleased to have Brent on board and are confident he will be able to take care of all the tasks we need him to," said BCHL Commissioner John Grisdale. "We'd like to thank Jeff for the excellent work he did in his time here in establishing Smart Hockey Magazine and setting the standard for our website.

"We wish him well in his future endeavours."

Mutis' background includes two years as a news and sports reporter in Salmon Arm and Vernon where he covered the BCHL franchises in those cities. He also spent the 2007 season as web play-by-play broadcaster for the Vancouver Canadians, then the single-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics.

Mutis is a graduate of the University of British Columbia where he was a member of the Thunderbirds baseball team. He is also a graduate of the journalism program at Langara College.
