Coaching Staffs Appointed for 2010 CJHL Prospects Game

Hockey Canada and the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) are pleased to announce the Coaching Staffs for the 2010 CJHL Prospects Game in Dauphin, Manitoba. The CJHL Prospects Game was created to showcase the top 40 NHL draft eligible players in the CJHL.

The 2010 CJHL Prospects Game will pit two local coaches against one another in a battle for the President's Cup. Team East will be led by Dauphin Kings General Manager and Head Coach Marlin Murray while Kings Assistant Coach Marc Berry will head the bench of Team West.

CJHL Prospects Team Doctor: Dr. Mike Penrose

This is Marc Berry's first season as an Assistant Coach for the Dauphin Kings. Marc has been coaching and scouting at various levels for 15 years, most recently as an Assistant Coach with the Yellowhead Chiefs in the MAAAHL. Following a brief junior playing career, Berry played a season in Norway. Steve Bray works alongside Berry as the Dauphin Kings Goaltender Coach. Bray is an alumnus of the Dauphin Kings, with experience playing for both the Brandon Wheat Kings (WHL) and Brandon Bobcats (CIAU).

Marlin Murray is in his seventh year with the Kings, three as an Assistant Coach before taking over as the GM / Head Coach in 2006. Marlin played three years of junior hockey in the SJHL with the Nipawin Hawks, then continued his hockey career at University, playing three seasons with the Brandon Bobcats (CIAU) and one season with the Regina Cougars (CIS). Bruce Helgeson won the MJHL Title as an Assistant Coach with the Dauphin Kings in 1993. Helgeson also played in the MJHL with the Brandon Travellers and Winkler Flyers.

The CJHL Prospects Games feature players from the CJHL's five western leagues competing against the top prospects from the CJHL'S five eastern leagues. Player selection is a joint initiative of the CJHL and NHL Central Scouting. The event includes a two-game, total goal series between Team East and Team West, which is a premiere showcase for fans, media and scouts from across North America.
CJHL Prospects Game #1 will be played at Credit Union Place on Tuesday, December 7th @ 7:00 PM, Game #2 will follow on Wednesday, December 8th at 7:00 PM. Pre-game practice will be held at 9:00 AM and 10:45 AM each day. The CJHL Prospects Games will be available on a pay per view basis at www.mjhlhockey.ca.
