Press Release
The Barrie Colts have acquired goalie and Barrie resident John Chartrand from the Niagara IceDogs.
Chartrand has spent the last two seasons backing up IceDogs starting goalie Mark Visentin. In 16 career games the 17-year old has a record of 6-8 with a 3.68 goals against average and a .879 save percentage.
Chartrand will now join Clint Windsor between the pipes for the Colts, after Barrie dealt Peter Di Salvo to the Generals on Tuesday.
Barrie will also receive Niagara's fifth round draft pick in 2012 and Guelph's tenth round draft pick in 2011.
Heading to Niagara is forward and assistant captain Darren Archibald. Archibald has scored at least 25 goals in the last two seasons and has 69 goals in 149 career games in the Ontario Hockey League.
Also headed to Niagara is goaltender Dalton McGrath. In nine starts last season McGrath was 8-1 with a 2.78 goals against average.
