Hawks Host Des Moines February 15th

Press Release

The Waterloo Black Hawks and Des Moines Buccaneers will meet Tuesday, February 15th at Young Arena as a result of last Saturday’s blizzard-related postponement, the Black Hawks announced Tuesday.

All tickets sold for the December 11th game will be honored on the make-up date. The Hawks encourage fans to come out to Young Arena that night to enjoy “Valentine’s Day for Him,” with an evening of hard-hitting, rivalry hockey. Game time on February 15th will be at 7:05PM.

“Early in the day, there might have been some who second-guessed the decision to postpone the game,” said Black Hawks President Doug Miller. “I think Mother Nature proved the forecasters right in the end. We are glad our fans, players, and staff did not have to come through that storm for a hockey game.”

The game was called off Saturday morning due to a blizzard warning issued by the National Weather Service for most of northern Iowa. As the day progressed, rain turned to snow with temperatures falling below zero overnight, accompanied by northerly winds in excess of 40 miles-per-hour. Hazardous travel conditions led the Iowa Department of Transportation to pull snow plows from some roads and advise against driving in some parts of the state.
