ICERAYS TRADE WIESER FOR SMERECK

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – Corpus Christi IceRays General Manager Pat Dunn announced today that the team has acquired forward Joe Smereck (SCH-meh-wreck) from the New Mexico Mustangs in exchange for goaltender Marco Wieser (Vee-sir).

The 19-year old Smereck played 26 games with the Mustangs this season. He tallied eight goals and three assists for 11 points. The native of Detroit, MI is expected to bolster the top lines for Corpus Christi.

Wieser, 19, leaves Corpus Christi after playing in 16 contests. His record was 5-9-1 with a 3.62 goals-against average and a .905 save percentage.

The IceRays continue their homestand on Friday December 10th against the Wichita Falls Wildcats at 7:05 PM. It is Teddy Bear Toss night presented by CPL Energy where stuffed animals will be thrown onto the ice following the first IceRays goal.
