Musketeers Forward Gordon Commits to RIT

Press Release

The Sioux City Musketeers announced that forward Nick Gordon has committed to play collegiate hockey at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) following his USHL career.

"It feels good. It's a nice weight off my chest," said Gordon. "I think every kid works for a college scholarship and it was nice that it finally came."

Gordon, who turns 20 later this week, is playing in his first USHL season and has collected six points (2g, 4a) in 21 games for the Musketeers. His first career goal in the League was the game-winner in the 5-2 win over Youngstown on November 7th.

"'Gordo's got size, he's got stick skills," said Luke Strand, Head Coach of the Musketeers. "He's continuing to work on his foot speed. He's battled through some injury time here. As a person, he's tremendous. He's a top-notch kid that gives us his best day in and day out."

The RIT Tigers are a member of the Atlantic Hockey Association and have eight USHL alumni on the roster this season; Cameron Burt (Green Bay Gamblers), Mike Janda (Chicago Steel), Ben Lynch (Lincoln Stars/Cedar Rapids RoughRiders), Shane Madolora (Omaha Lancers), Taylor McReynolds (Green Bay Gamblers), Sean Murphy (Waterloo Black Hawks/Green Bay Gamblers), Chris Saracino (Green Bay Gamblers), and Jeff Smith (Tri-City Storm).

"You know he obviously has an academic and athletic future ahead of him and it's the right fit for him," said Strand.
