SJHL VS SWEDEN

Fans in four Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League centres will get to experience international hockey in the last week of December and the first week of January. The Swedish National Under 17 team will play four exhibition games against SJHL teams starting January 29 in Flin Flon. Other games are January 30 in La Ronge against the defending SJHL champion Ice Wolves, January 1 in Humboldt and January 3 in Battlefords. All games will begin at 730 p.m. with the exception of the game in Humboldt. It will start at 3 p.m.

Some of the Swedish players that have played on the under 17 team in the past include Tampa Bay Lightning defenceman Victor Hedman (2nd overall pick-2009 NHL draft), Phoenix Coyotes defenceman Oliver Ekman-Larsson (6th overall pick-2009 NHL draft), and Washington Capitals forward Niklas Backstrom (4th overall pick-2006 NHL draft)
