Broll acquired from Otters

Press Release

The Soo Greyhounds Hockey Club announced this morning it has acquired left-winger DAVID BROLL from the Erie Otters along with a trio of picks.
In addition to the 18-year old forward, the Hounds receive Erie’s 3rd Round selection in the 2013 OHL Priority Selection, Erie’s 4th Round Pick in the 2014 OHL Priority Selection and Erie’s 1st Round Pick in the 2011 CHL Import Selection.

In exchange, the Greyhounds send 19-year old forward BRETT THOMPSON along with the Hounds 2nd Round Pick in the 2011 CHL Import Draft to the Erie.

Broll, a native of Mississauga ON, was originally selected in the 1st Round (10th overall) in the 2009 OHL Priority Selection by Erie. In his rookie campaign he registered 9 goals and 9 assists in 64 games played in the OHL while he was also a member of Team Ontario’s silver-medal winning squad in Timmins, ON.

This past summer, the 6.01, 225 lb forward participated in the NHL’s Research, Development and Orientation Camp and would cap off the off-season with a gold medal with Team Canada at the 2010 Memorial of Ivan Hlinka (U18).

The 2010/11 season started with Broll registering 1 goal and 2 assists in his Season Opener against the Brampton Battalion. Most recently, Broll was ranked 24th among OHL skaters in the NHL’s Central Scouting preliminary draft rankings released before the holidays.

Broll is regarded as a “big, strong kid with a good shot. He’s got good inside toughness, very good hands and works hard at his game. He’s going to be a very good NHL Prospect”.
