COLTS SHIP GASKIN TO GUELPH

Press Release

With the Ontario Hockey League trade deadline looming at noon on Monday, the Barrie Colts have pulled the trigger on a deal that sees them get a pair of draft picks.

On Sunday the Colts shipped defenceman Stephen Gaskin to the Guelph Storm.

Gaskin leaves the Colts after four years in Barrie, in which he increased his point-productivity in each season.

In return Barrie gets a pair of draft picks from the Storm. The Colts get back their own second round pick in 2012 that was originally sent to Guelph last season when they acquired overage forward Matt Kennedy.

Barrie will also receive Guelph’s fourth round pick in the 2012 OHL Priority Selection.

Gaskin was named an alternate captain for Barrie this season and did not miss a game all season.

Last year the London native played in all but one game in the Colts run to the Ontario Hockey League Finals.

Barrie dropped two of three games this weekend and will hit the road for back to back games in Erie and Niagara starting Friday night.
