Defenseman leaves Bowling Green State University to rejoin Tri-City

KEARNEY, Neb. – Tri-City Storm Head Coach and General Manger Drew Schoneck announced Thursday morning that the Storm have officially added defenseman Michael Montrose to the active roster. Montrose, who played for the Storm last season, left Bowling Green State University after one semester to rejoin the team.

The 5-foot-11, 185 pound defenseman played 11 games for BGSU posting two assists and seven penalty-minutes. Montrose’s last game for BGSU was on December 11th against Ohio State University.

Last season, the native of Howell, Mich., had one goal and 12 assists and 61 penalty-minutes in 59 games for the Storm. He has played in 120 USHL games and has two goals, 20 assists and 110 penalty-minutes through three seasons in the league, which started in Waterloo for two seasons in his career.

Montrose will wear number ‘2’ for the Storm this season and will be eligible to play this Friday night, as the Storm start a three-game road trip against the Lincoln Stars. Tri-City will return to the Viaero Event Center on January 14th against the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders.
