Hounds make Coaching Change

Press Release

Soo Greyhounds General Manager Dave Torrie announced this morning that Denny Lambert has been relieved of his Head Coaching duties.

“After taking a considerable amount of time to evaluate and consider all of our options, I came to the conclusion that a change was necessary. Denny is an outstanding person and has represented our organization very well for a number of years,” stated Torrie.

“For the past 8 seasons Denny has given his best efforts to the Greyhounds organization and those of us who have been associated with him respect his passion, work ethic, and coaching abilities. Denny has handled the pressures and adversity of this season as professionally as possible, but at this time I felt that our players were not responding effectively to the demands and systems he was teaching.”

Lambert became an Assistant coach with the Hounds in the 2003/04 season before being named Head Coach in the summer of 2008.

“I believe that when given another coaching opportunity that Denny can draw on his past experiences and be successful in another setting. Myself, and the entire Greyhounds organization, would like to thank Denny and his family for their time dedicated to our hockey club, and wish them all the best in their future endeavors” concluded Torrie.

General Manager Dave Torrie will assume the Head Coaching duties on an interim basis.
