PLAYER OF THE MONTH – Jonathan Ceci (Nipawin)

The Nipawin Hawks played their best hockey of the season in December with several players having big months. However, the 1990 born Ceci was head and shoulders above the rest. The 5 foot 10 forward from North Vancouver, BC had 22 points in nine games for the Hawks. One of those games saw Ceci register a goal and four assists in a victory over Humboldt.

HONORABLE MENTION: Johnny Calkins (Kindersley), Marc-Andre Carre (La Ronge)

DEFENCEMAN OF THE MONTH – Lee Christiansen (Melfort)

The 1991 born defenceman from Winnipeg is a guy that doesn’t see his name get on the scoresheet much, but its his defensive play that earns him accolades throughout the league. Considered by some to be the best defenceman in the SJHL, Christiansen is part of a very solid defensive group in Melfort. His play in December has helped Melfort stay within sight of first place La Ronge in the Bauer Conference.

HONORABLE MENTION: Dayton Fossum (La Ronge), Tanner McCall (Weyburn)

GOALTENDER OF THE MONTH – Sean Cahill (Kindersley)

The Kindersley Klippers have looking for someone to replace Josh Thorimbert all season. They may finally have found one. The 1990 born netminder from Calgary came to Kindersley from the Alberta Junior Hockey League and he has not disappointed. Cahill was 6-1 in December with a goals against average of2.72 with a save percentage of .905

HONORABLE MENTION: PJ Musico (Flin Flon), Stephen Klein (Nipawin)

ROOKIE OF THE MONTH – Stephen Klein (Nipawin)

Stephen Klein made the most of his opportunity in December. Nipawin head coach Doug Johnson gave the 1993 born goalie from Saskatoon some increased playing time and he came through. Klein was 4-1 in December with a goals against average of 3.69 and a save percentage of .907. One of Klein’s four wins was one of the goaltending performances of the year in the SJHL as he stopped 52 of 54 shots in a victory over La Ronge.
