WHEAT KINGS REASSIGN TWO

Press Release

Brandon, MB. – The Western Hockey League’s Brandon Wheat Kings have announced that two rookie forwards have been designated for reassignment.

Brandon general manager and head coach Kelly McCrimmon has confirmed that 18-year old center Wheaton King and 19-year old left-winger Mark Mieritz did not make Tuesday’s trip to Saskatoon for tonight’s game against the Blades.

In 38 games with the Wheat Kings this season, King has two goals and 11 points while Mieritz scored once and set up five others in 31 games in Brandon.

A member of the Danish National Junior Team at this year’s World Junior B Hockey Championships, Mieritz was Brandon’s only selection in last summer’s Canadian Hockey League Import Draft.

A local product, King was a sixth round draft pick of the Wheat Kings in the 2007 WHL Bantam Draft.

Today’s moves leaves the Wheat Kings with 22 players on their active roster including thirteen forwards
