CALGARY, AB. – The Western Hockey League announced today that Drew Owsley, of the Tri-City Americans, has been named the VAUGHN WHL Goaltender of the Month for December.
The 19 year-old goaltender posting a 6-2 record through December with a 1.750 goals-against average and 0.945 save percentage. He started all games for the Americans through December which included a pair of wins over U.S. Division rivals the Seattle Thunderbirds and Portland Winterhawks.
Owsley’s consistent play has him ranked 7th among all WHL goaltenders with 2.68 goals-against average. He has also helped the Americans to a 22-11-1-1 overall record this season, currently sitting fourth in the WHL Western Conference with 46 points. His efforts also earned him two 1st Star selections.
Owsley, from Lethbridge, AB, is in his third season with the Tri-City Americans who listed the goaltender out of the Alberta Midget Hockey League. He has gone on to appear in 97 career WHL games maintaining a 2.62 goals-against average and 0.913 save percentage.
His accomplishments make Drew Owsley a deserving choice as the VAUGHN WHL Goaltender of the Month for December.
