Smoke Eaters sniper Bradshaw signs with Sacred Heart

Press Release

Trail Smoke Eaters forward Cullen Bradshaw has signed a scholarship to play for the Sacred Heart University Pioneers for the 2011-12 season.

Bradshaw, a 5-foot-11, 165-pound, Medicine Hat product has made a big impact in Trail in his first BCHL season. He's scored 30 goals and 31 assists while playing in all 56 Smoke Eaters contests this year.

After two seasons with Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League, Bradshaw has made a smooth transition to Trail and secured his scholarship objective. He has twice been named the BCHL Player of the Week and at times has carried the Smokies offensively when the team has been without the services of its other top point-getters due to injury or international commitments.

"He really came on when (Sam) Mellor and (Travis) St. Denis were away with Team Canada West (at the World Junior A Challenge)," said Smoke Eaters bench boss Jim Ingram. "He's been one of many bright spots this season; he's just got the knack and goes to the tough areas to score goals."

The 20-year-old Bradshaw will join former Alberni Valley Bulldogs forward Tye Lewis, who is currently in his freshman season with Sacred Heart. The Pioneers play in the Atlantic Hockey conference.
