Tuohy accepts scholarship offer to play for UConn Huskies

Press Release

Kevin Tuohy is lucky number seven for the Langley Chiefs in the scholarship department, committing to the University of Connecticut for the fall of 2011.

The mobile defenceman is will be returning to a place that is closer to home as he is originally from the New York area. Being back on the East Coast should help in making the transition from Junior A to NCAA hockey as will the fact his teammate, and Chiefs captain, Trevor Gerling will also be entering his freshman year for the Huskies next season.

“Kevin has a game suited for the NCAA,” said Chiefs head coach and general manager Harvey Smyl, who figured it was just a matter of time before someone picked up the second year Chiefs blueliner. “He is a skilled defenceman who moves the puck well and knows how to work the point with the man advantage.”

Tuohy is currently the Chiefs second leading scorer amongst defenseman with 25 points, surpassing last year’s totals with five games remaining in the season.

The BCHL and the entire Langley Chiefs organization would like to congratulate Kevin on this achievement and wish him luck next year in the NCAA.
