USHL Honors - Week 20

The United States Hockey League today announced the weekly award winners for the 20th week of the 2010-11 USHL regular season.

Congratulations to forward Tucker Brockett of the Chicago Steel, named CCM Offensive Player of the Week; defenseman Joel Benson of the Chicago Steel, selected as CCM Defensive Player of the Week; and Ryan McKay of the Green Bay Gamblers who earned honors as the Reebok USHL Goaltender of the Week.

Brockett scored five points (3g, 2a) and posted a plus-four rating to help the Steel capture a pair of wins. He tallied a shorthanded goal in Monday's 4-3 loss to Youngstown. The 20-year-old then netted two goals in Saturday's 5-2 win against Muskegon. He completed the week by dishing out two assists, including one on the game-winner, in the 3-2 victory over Youngstown. It is the second USHL season for the native of Shaker Heights, Ohio. Brockett has collected 17 points (11g, 6a) in 38 games and has scored four of his goals over the last five games.

Benson scored two goals and posted a plus-three rating in three games for the Steel. The 18-year-old scored a goal in Monday's loss to Youngstown. He then scored the game-winner in Saturday's 5-2 win over Muskegon. It was his first career game-winning goal in the USHL. The native of Marquette, Michigan is competing in his first USHL season and has recorded nine points (6g, 3a) to lead all Steel defensemen in scoring.

McKay allowed just one goal and posted a .978 save percentage over two starts for the Gamblers. He stopped all 28 shots by Des Moines in Thursday's 3-0 victory. It was his third shutout of the season and second vs. Des Moines. The 18-year-old netminder then made 17 saves on Sunday in the 2-1 win against Cedar Rapids to help the Gamblers to their 30th victory of the season. McKay is playing in his second USHL season with the Gamblers and is currently second among USHL goaltenders with a 2.02 GAA and a .926 SV%.
