Winkler Flyers’ veteran Michael Wilgosh has been named the MJHL’s RBC Player of the Month for February.
The Selkirk native had an outstanding season as he topped the Flyers’ points race with 38 goals and 81 points in 60 games this season. Wilgosh, who lists San Jose Sharks as his favourite team and Dany Heatley as his favourite player, is now preparing to face Wayway Wolverines in the first round of the Addison Division playoffs.
The RBC Player of the Month runners up were 19 year old forward Brett Chartier of the Winnipeg Saints and 20 year old forward Kyle Johnson of the Dauphin Kings.
Sher-wood Hockey Defenceman of the Month
Another member of the Winkler Flyers drew the nod for a player of the month. Brad Haber, 20, was named defenceman of the month.
The runners up are 19 year old Brenden Kotyk of the Dauphin Kings and 20 year old Jordan Davies of the Winnipeg Saints.
Husky Energy Rookie of the Month
Brent Wold, 17, of the Portage Terriers clearly has a bright future in junior hockey. The native of Lac du Bonnet is now preparing with his teammates to face Swan Valley Stampeders in the first round of their best-of-seven Sher-Wood Division playoff series.
The runners up are 18 year old Bryn Chyzyk of the Dauphin Kings and 16 year old Brendan Harms of the Portage Terriers.
MJHL Goaltender of the Month
Winnipeg native Matt Krahn, 19, of the OCN Blizzard drew the nod as top goaltender in February.
The runners up are 20 year old Brett Willows of the Dauphin Kings and 18 year old Jason Kasdorf of the Portage Terriers.
