Indiana Ice defenseman Tim Smith has committed to play collegiate hockey at the University of Minnesota-Duluth beginning next season.
Playing in his first USHL season, Smith has appeared in all 46 games for the Ice and has collected 17 points (4g, 13) while posting a plus-17 rating. The 20-year-old from Superior, Wisconsin has recorded seven points (1g, 6a) and a plus-six rating over his last 10 contests. The Ice have compiled a 13-0-1 record in games in which Smith has registered a point.
Ten other current USHL players are committed to play collegiately at the University of Minnesota-Duluth; Cal Decowski (Des Moines Buccaneers), Willie Corrin (Fargo Force), Andy Welinski (Green Bay Gamblers), Chris Casto (Lincoln Stars), Justin Crandall (Omaha Lancers), Caleb Herbert (Sioux City Musketeers), Adam Krause (Sioux City Musketeers), Austyn Young (Sioux Falls Stampede), Matt McNeely (Team USA), and Kyle Osterberg (Team USA).
The University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs are a member of the WCHA and currently ranked #11 in the nation. A total of 14 USHL alumni are on the roster at the school this season; J.T.
