SHARIB TO UCONN

Press Release

Hooksett, NH–One of the key cogs in the New Hampshire Junior Monarch’s line-up was locked up this past week. Power Forward Cody Sharib has committed to the University of Connecticut for next season. He along with line mate Ryan Tyson are future Huskies. He is the 13th Monarch to receive a NCAA Division One commitment. The 6’1”, 205 native of Needham played for Needham H.S before a post-grad year with New Hampton, but his play has really taken off as a Monarch.

In the second half of last season, Sharib had figured out the ropes of being a junior hockey player and took off. He continued his pace this season (his second), where some have acknowledged him being the most dominant player on the ice at times, with a 17-13-30 pace in 29 games. He is a stellar player down low in the corners and his puck possession game down low is second to none. Opposing defensemen often have trouble containing him mid-ice barreling down like a freight train. "I am very grateful to the Monarchs organization and Coach Tremblay for providing the perfect environment to develop as a hockey player and as a person,” Cody acknowledged his development with the team. “I look forward to the remainder of the season. My goal is to help the team to win another title."

Cody is very excited for what the future holds. "I am very excited to be attending the University of Connecticut starting this fall. It is a great honor for me to put on a Husky uniform and be part of such a great program. It was really a no brainer after I visited the school and was completely blown away. At the same time UConn is a perfect match for my interests academically. I am confident that this environment will provide me a great opportunity to reach my full potential, developing both as an athlete and a person."
